Dental emergency services should always be the top priority of every dentist. Road traffic accidents or RTA in short is a common problem leading to dental visits. In my dental practice more than 50% of patients not wearing helmets leads to casualties in the maxillofacial region. Most of the mandibular fracture can be entirely treated by a maxillofacial surgeon in the dental office. Maxillary fracture or trauma to cranium require different specialist doctors including dental surgeon and most probably operated in an operation theatre in a dental hospital or general hospital. Next dental emergency is infection in the maxillofacial region. Most common causes of infection in the maxillofacial region are dental cavity and poor oral hygiene. Usually, infection at the initial stage can be easily treated by a dental doctor. Problems arise when dental patients underestimate infection in the maxillofacial region including oral cavity. Antibioma is a medical term used for patients who take inadequate doses of antibiotics for a longer period of time. Life threatening situation arises in patients who avoid dental treatment caused by infection in the maxillofacial region.
